About PRague International Airport

Ruzyne-Prague Airport is a modern and spacious international airport located on the northwest edge of Prague and around 17 km north of the city. All international flights arrive here (there is no other civil airport in Prague). However, Prague has three other small airports and several landing areas for helicopters, located at airports and in hospital compounds. The journey from the airport to the city centre takes around 25 - 30 minutes, or around 50 minutes by public transport. Since the new terminal 2 was opened, new facilities have increased and passenger comfort has also been improved, with new conference rooms and other spaces, for example for VIP and business clients, or for those traveling with children etc. There are several ways of traveling to the airport - car, bus, taxi or minibus.

Prague Airport is one of the most modem aerial ports in Europe and the second largest airport in central Europe. This year there is an estimate that 73.2 million passengers will check in.

Czechoslovakia, today’s Czech Republic, belonged to the leading European pioneers of the civil aviation and became over time a part of the most state-of-the-art continental transportation system. The Prague – Ruzyně Airport began operation on April 5, 1937, but the Czechoslovak civil aviation history started at the military airport in Prague - Kbely in 1919. Due to insufficient capacity of the Kbely airport in the middle of 30s of 20th century, the Government decided to develop a new State Civil Airport in Ruzyně. The airport has excellent location both with respect to short distance from the center of Prague and within the European area.
